From Couch To Coach!

Lewis howes, a student of Prinicipa College and Capital University was a first class American football player.
He holds the record for catching 17 passes for 418 yards in a game against Martin Luther College.
It was clear to him what he wanted to be.
His dream was to be a professional footballer.
To pursue his dream, he left his studies to join Arena Football League.
But the tide of fate was against him.
In 2007, in the midst of a league match, he collided with a wall
The end result of this collision was a wrecked wrist.
He was able to play rest of the season with a broken wrist, but a bad news was around the corner.
After the corrective surgery, he was told that he won’t be able to play again.
His dreams of becoming a professional football player shattered.
What now?
He was searching for the answer while lying down on his sister’s couch.
Networking!
He started meeting out mentors who influenced him.
He neither asked them any favors nor any advice.
He asked them how they have reached here; their dragon slaying stories.
And at the end of the conversation, he threw down an anchor.
He asked them, what was the biggest challenge or hurdle they are facing at this moment?
They would often reply that they are looking for a skillful talent who can solve their problems.
On a suggestion of a mentor, Lewis joined LinkedIn in a hope to get a job or to connect with talented people, influencers, and entrepreneurs.
On LinkedIn he started researching, building his own identity, making contacts and groups.
But his approach of making contacts was not an ordinary one.
Before sending an invitation to connect, he would do a deep research of the person’s interest.
Do we share anything in common? He would ask himself before sending an invitation.
It could be common friends, or the same hobbies, or support for the same football team, or going to the same schools, etc.
Instead of sending a blanch message,” Hi I want to connect with you on LinkedIn”.
He would send,” Hi I am a good friend of your brother, or hey you are also a fan of XXXX team, let's connect and exchange more thoughts”.
This created empathy between him and the person he is trying to get connected.
The strategy was a hit, and his network grew stronger every day.
He started attending LinkedIn events and meeting more people.
People praised his networking capabilities and asked him to teach the same.
Bang!
He wrote a guide on how to make most of the LinkedIn site.
But he did not make money on this guide.
He decided that he would follow the current trend.
Bang Bang!
After a long hustle, researching, and trying, he made his first online learning course about LinkedIn.
His first webinar made around $6000 dollars in an hour.
In one hour he earned more than what he had made in the last two years.
He found his alchemy moment.
Since 2009, he had done more than thousands of live webinars and few automated ones.
After earning around $7 million revenue in 3 years, he sold his company.
Currently he is managing lewishowes.com, which provides online courses and mentor-ship programs.
He tweaked the way of networking on LinkedIn and became a millionaire.
Successful people do the same thing in a different way.
