A Slice of Hope!

A small pizza has 6 slices; a medium one has 8 slices, and a large pizza typically has 10 slices.
Even if you had to eat one or two slices, you still need to pay for the full pizza.
Won’t it be nice if a pizza joint offers slices of pizza instead of a full pizza?
At the age of 25, Masan Warton left his 3-year-old high paying job at Wall Street.
After quitting, he opened Rosa’s Fresh Pizza in Philadelphia in 2013.
The pizza joint is named after her mother Rosa.
Unlike others, Wartman’s pizza joint offers one pizza slice for $1.
This model has 2 major advantages:
  • Instead of buying a whole pizza, customers can order slices as per their appetite and budget.
  • It avoids the wastage of food.
But there is something more unique about Rosa’s Fresh Pizza joint.
Colorful post-it notes scribbled with a message or drawings are stick on the walls of this joint.
Each post-it note represents a $1 coupon for a free slice of pizza.
The technique is simple.
A customer can pay an extra dollar over his bill, and that extra dollar would turn into a post-it note and gets stick to the wall.
But these coupons are not meant for another paying customer.
They are for the homeless and poor, who could not afford the food on their own.
It is for those people who had to sleep on a hungry stomach on the streets of Philadelphia.
The homeless can exchange one post-it note for a slice of pizza.
And the beautiful thing is that they are treated like any other paying customer.
On an average, Rosa pizzas serve about 40 homeless customers per day, and till date, they had delivered more than 10000 slices in exchange of the post-it notes.
Wartman only wanted to offer a slice of pizza to the customers for $1.
But it all started when a customer asked him if he can pre-purchase a pizza for someone who could not afford it.
What started as only a pizza joint has turned into an angel, who is serving pizza slices to the less fortunate.
It ain’t a slice of pizza, it is a ray of hope for many needy folks.
